Google celebrated Asterix's 50th anniversary!
That day will go down in history for all the Indomitable of the Known World! To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their creation, and all thanks to a hitherto unpublished "doodle", Asterix and Obelix found themselves on the Google homepage in close to 60 different languages! And what, may you ask, is this "doodle"? It is, quite simply, a variation on the Google logo that celebrates a very unique event.

The entire continent of South America, all of Europe, in addition to Korea, Taiwan and Israel thus paid tribute to Asterix and friends on 29 October 2009.
Tapidesourix, our webmaster, could barely handle the site's new success given the huge number of connections. It was very simple really: after having devoted his technical prowess to the site, he could hardly receive an email since there was so much demand for bandwidth and the servers!
For some time then we had been working with the Google teams in California, authentic Asterix fans, in preparation for that great event. Thrilled with the "doodle" dreamed up by Albert Uderzo himself, they confess to having reread all the Asterix albums recently so as to imbue themselves with the spirit of the small Gaul with the winged helmet.
A petition even went around the Web asking Google to make this "doodle" a permanent fixture on the French version of the famous browser! In the meantime, you can discover all versions of the Asterix "doodle" on this page: a one-of-a-kind slide show that we're not about to take off our virtual shelves!
Many thanks to Ryan, Jeff and the teams at Google for this magnificent gift!
